Retro Oman 🧡🌀📽️

When I first thought about planning my trip to Oman, I had no idea what to expect. But I do remember feeling excited, like I just knew deep down that this journey would be something special.

It’s 8:45, and I’m leaving Dubai-Hatta with an Omani man named Faris, who owns a private taxi. What a curious man!

I crossed the Emirati border and got a 14-day stamp with the warmest welcome at the Omani side. I still remember how it felt when we started driving towards Muscat. My body just relaxed, like it finally understood I was entering Oman.

Oman, what can I say? There’s so much, but I’ll try to keep it short 🧡

From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, the people were incredibly humble, welcoming, and generous in so many ways. There’s something so genuine about them, maybe it’s their authenticity. You could feel it everywhere, in how they treated you, in their traditions, and even in their food. The food was rich and delicious, though not as diverse as I’ve experienced elsewhere. I think that has a lot to do with how their culture is shaped. Unlike other Gulf countries, most shops and businesses in Oman are run by Omanis, which also influenced the food culture.

Oman might not be the cheapest destination, but the experience was absolutely worth it, and everything felt fair for what you get in return.

What amazed me was that skyscrapers are banned across the country. This makes the views so wide and open. Their homes still keep this traditional look and shape, and it feels so authentic. Every place I visited had its own charm, but Nizwa city and its souq completely stole my heart. The vibe was just right, and the streets were filled with the incredible scent of Oudh. The weather was warm and beautiful, like those perfect spring days when the sun feels just right. And the ocean, it was so peaceful and lovely, adding a sense of calm to everything 🌀

One more thing I noticed is how much respect people have for one another and for tourists. It’s such a safe place to travel, even as a woman. Omani culture values women in such a beautiful way, and you can really feel it.

If you ever get the chance, go visit. Hopefully, the feelings I’m trying to describe here come alive for you with the following scenes:
