India through my being 🌀
India isn’t your typical beach destination.
However it is a place full of vibrant culture, rich history, and deep wisdom, whether in its architecture, nature, or the spiritual practices of its people. The food here is absolutely amazing, and there are so many great restaurants that I’ll recommend. If you’ve never been, you should experience India at least once in your life.
This isn’t my first time in India. Back in 2010, I lived here for almost four years during my studies, so maybe I’m a little biased. But even after all this time, India still manages to surprise me in all ways.
Would I go again? Absolutely. I’m especially curious about the southern part of India and plan to explore it in the future. There’s so much left to discover.
That said, India can also challenge you. Life can be intense in some places, and it might leave you feeling uncomfortable at times. But for me, that’s where I found something meaningful...a chance to grow in compassion.
Come to India with an open heart, free from fixed expectations. Let go of what you think it should be and let India show you what it really is.
When it comes to street food, I’d be careful unless someone you trust recommends it, and always stick to bottled water. In India, you’ve got to have some basic street skills and awareness. It’s generally safe, but it’s best not to wander around streets that make you feel uncomfortable. Keep in mind that hygiene can vary from place to place and might not exist in some areas, so it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings.
India has left me humbled, with a heart full of compassion. I hope the following scenes from my time spent between Mumbai and Surat can give you a glimpse of that feeling.
